Liberty Gun Safes Withstand the Test of Time

Liberty gun safes take longer to break into than their competitors. It is said that the average burglary lasts 7 minutes. So Liberty Safe says that making a more secure safe is all about buying more time. The longer it takes a burglar to break into your safe, the less chance that he will succeed because he will just run out of time. To prove their security, Liberty ran a pry test between their entry level safe, the Centurion, and a competitor’s equivalent entry level safe.

Both were full size gun safes that were tipped on their backs, this allows for better leverage. Ttwo men then attacked each safe, one had a regular pry bar and the other had a much longer, steel pry bar that allowed for better leverage. The timer was started to see if the safe’s could hold up for the 7 minute average burglary time. The competitor safe lasted for 1:15, the Liberty Centurion gun safe lasted for over 10:00 minutes, about 10 times longer than its competitors.

If you think this is impressive, then you will really be pleased with Liberty gun safes higher end models. All of these models: the Colonial, Franklin, Lincoln and Presidential, come with security upgrades. One upgrade in particular is what Liberty calls “Tough Doors”. There are five main features to a Tough Door:

  1. They are a composite door that is thicker normal, at least 1″ – 1.5″ thick.
  2. There door has inner steel plates to increase the door’s rigidity.
  3. These Liberty gun safes have larger diameter bolts, bolts that are 25% – 50% larger than their competitors. The bolts also longer, extending 33% further from the door and into the frame. This makes it much more difficult to pry the door away from the frame.
  4. The higher end Liberty gun safes also have anti-pry tabs which increases a safes resistance to prying by up to 300% than safes without these tabs.
  5. They have more bolts along more sides of the doors. Instead of just having bolts along one side like most entry level safes, the Colonial and Franklin have bolts along three sides, and the Lincoln and Presidential safes have bolts on all four sides of the door.

One other primary security feature is that the safes all come with anchors to secure them to the floor. This way the safe cannot be tipped over for easier prying. It also makes it much harder to steal the safe for breaking into elsewhere when time is not an issue.

All Liberty gun safes are Underwriters Laboratory tested for security. In these tests professional safe crackers try to break into the safe. When a safe passes a certain level of security test, they are rated for that test. All Liberty safes are UL rated, with the higher end safes earning higher security ratings than the safe below them.

Later, Liberty did the same pry test that was done on the Colonial and its competitor, but on the higher level Lincoln safe with the Tough Door. For over an hour two guys tried to break into the Lincoln safe with pry bars, before they gave up due to exhaustion. That was one tough safe! If you need security, then look into Liberty gun safes, and you are sure to a model that suits your needs.

Two Things You Need If You Live Alone: A Dog & a Home Alarm

Living alone can be a scary thing. Perhaps it’s not easy for you to sleep at night knowing that if someone breaks into your home, you will be left vulnerable and unprotected. However, there are a couple of things you can get that will increase your home security.

The first is a dog. Not only can you help yourself out, but you can also save an animal’s life. Go to the pound and adopt a young dog or puppy. Dogs form such a strong bond with their owners that they will protect them at any cost. Even if the bark is stronger than the bite, a fierce bark can help to scare burglars off. Not to mention that living alone can be lonely. A great side benefit of your own little guard dog is that he will keep you company.

However, the absolute best way to keep your home and yourself safe is to have a home alarm system installed. Nowadays, almost anyone can afford an alarm system. Security companies are engaged in a battle for customers that has caused monthly pricing to drop and installations to be free, in some cases. You can find packages out there for well under $50 per month.

Once you have your alarm system in place, make sure the company logo stickers go up on doors and windows. The signs that go in the yard are also very effective, given that they can be seen from a greater distance. These signs and stickers are proven to be effective in spooking off potential intruders. For example, let’s say that there are six houses on your block and yours is the only one with the signs in the yard. In other words, your home is the only one that a burglar will notice definitely has a home security system. Which house is the burglar most likely to break into? Undoubtedly, he will go for one of the unprotected homes. Why? Burglars target houses where they can get in and out with no trouble – ones where people aren’t home and ones without alarm systems.

There are many other benefits to security systems. In addition to break-ins, they protect your home from flooding, fires and carbon monoxide. Having a security system installed in your home can also save you money on your home insurance. Many insurance companies will lower your premium, thanks to the extra protection you have added to your home.

If you are worried about the price of dog food or the monthly payments on a home alarm, you should ask yourself a couple of questions. Can you put a price on your own security? Can you put a price on being able to sleep easier at night knowing that you are safe? The answers should be no. We aren’t even talking about a great deal of money here. A couple of bags of dog chow and a $40 or so monthly payment isn’t exactly an expenditure of mortgage-like proportions. Don’t waste any more time in getting the peace of mind you deserve. Not to mention that there is a cute puppy waiting for you down at the pound.

A Few Ways You Can Increase Home Security in California

California is known the world over thanks to Hollywood and big metropolitan areas like Los Angeles and San Francisco. Because of its favorable climate and large economy, people come from far and wide to carve out a niche in the Golden State. Unfortunately, criminals have the exact same thing in mind. They know that the state is rip with potential targets and they would love to live there as long as people continue to take their home security for granted. How are they going to fare when they get to your home? If you have some of the following measures in place, they’re probably not going to succeed.

1. A guard dog has stood the test of time and remains one of the best ways to protect your home. Dogs are naturally territorial and once you put one in your backyard it’s instinctively going to try to protect that space against any and all intruders. Unfortunately, they come with their own set of downsides. For starters, not all dogs are cut out to be guard dogs. Some are much friendlier than others and thus may not be all that aggressive towards potential intruders. Secondly, they have to be properly trained or they could do substantial damage to your home. Finally, even a fierce guard dog can be bypassed. For example, a criminal could open the gate and let them loose. It won’t be much of a home security measure when it’s running around the neighborhood. Despite those points, a well-trained dog is a great security asset.

2. The right external lighting can have a big impact as well. A combination of motion-activated flood lights and timers can make it hard for criminals to creep up to your home. Lighting timers would probably be best but you might feel like you’re wasting electricity by having your lights on most of the night. That’s why many homeowners opt to make use of motion-activated flood lights instead. Whenever motion is detected, the lights will turn on and illuminate the entire area. Criminals usually change their minds when everyone can see what they’re doing, making such lights a great home security asset even if they’re only useful at night.

3. Despite popular opinion, most crimes happen in the daytime when people are at work. Lights wouldn’t deter criminals then and they’d also have enough time to either befriend your dog or let them loose. For those reasons, only a home alarm system is adequate for all day protection. It’ll monitor your doors and windows and it’ll be able to detect whenever they’ve been opened. If a criminal were to try to outsmart the system and break a window instead, motion sensors inside would catch them in the act anyway. It wouldn’t matter that a criminal has all day to try to bypass that system either because the system simply can’t be bypassed. Even a power outage or a broken telephone line wouldn’t phase it. There’s a reason why banks and businesses all over California place their trust in home alarm systems: they’re going to make sure that criminals don’t succeed.

Fake Security Cameras: Are You Willing to Take That Chance

Have you ever thought about getting fake security cameras for your home? They are not without meaning but are fading away as we see CCTV cameras become more and more affordable. They are still on the market and can be used in various situations.

Fake security cameras were once a popular item because people were not used to being recorded everywhere they went. Now that we are exposed to real cameras in every mall, shop, store, any government building, or any part of the business sector you will see cameras monitoring you everywhere you go. Telling the unreal cameras from the real ones is piece of cake these days and it has made them less of a commodity.

This is not to say you need to have the best home security systems in place but if you are in doubt about the safety of your home there should be something more that is done than just a decoy of a camera system. There is a middle ground that can be found if you look for it.

Even the best home security systems have their flaws but they are always running to make sure you are protected. Using a model surveillance system is only playing mind games with people who are unable to tell the difference between a fake and real camera.

Fake security cameras are only going to fool people for so long. This seems to be their nature because when CCTV was still too expensive for consumers to afford people would buy model cameras instead. Now with Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) being improved upon it is more than affordable.

Of course there is always the factor of cost and expense. Not everyone has the means to spend a decent amount of money on something like a good home protection unit much less the best home security systems available.

Cost is really the reason why we are seeing the demand in home security skyrocket. For such a long time now surveillance equipment has been pricy no matter whom you are. With all the added applications that come from the Web, the advancements in digital recording or storing, and the ability make everything smaller or more compatible is why we see these systems becoming so economically sound.

Not that fake security cameras are expensive but if you spend money on a camera that isn’t real you might as well just spend a little more and get a few real ones. Not having real surveillance equipment is only going to do so much and you can’t rely on something like that to keep you safe from home invasion.

Benefits of Solar Security Lights

When using any type of outdoor lighting, it makes sense to consider solar powered products that can save energy. This is a feasible solution for function purposes as well such as security lighting. There is a little difference between traditional security lighting and solar security lighting products in the market today. The difference comes from the limitation of a high intensity beam of solar powered light.

The solar light is triggered by a motion detector which can be adjusted to limit the sensitivity of the sensor. Not only is the sensitivity adjustable but so is the range and scope of the area being monitored. This is a strategy for conserving battery power and keeping the light from going off every time a leaf blows by in the wind. Sometimes the light is installed in a position close to a public road where passing traffic might otherwise set off the light and become a nuisance.

The difference between solar security lights and most other outdoor solar light products is that the solar panel is often detached from the rest of the unit. This is because some people will need to install the light under a shade such as the lid of a roof for example. It is useful to be able to install the solar panel at a different location such as the roof where it can be exposed to the greatest amount of sun light. The panel and the light are connected with a cable to provide the battery with a source of energy with which it is recharged.

Lighting security is a form of passive security that does not actually provide any real protection. It is important to understand this concept and know when to install a surveillance camera for more serious protection. But in many cases that is more security than the average home has so it is better than nothing. In some cases it is hardly installed for the purpose of security but convenience. It is nice to come home at night and have your walk from the driveway to your front door well lit so you do not have to fumble in the dark for your keys.

Wood fence Dallas – Versatile wooden Fencing Design Ideas

Wood deck installation: In general, Depending on the homeowner’s end goal and the style of the house itself, wood fences can sometimes fill the need for both form and functionality. The Fencing can bring about the much needed privacy and security we want in our homes. Not only that, wood fencing in particular, can also give the house and its surrounding landscape the right touch of rustic charm to complete its look.

The Wood fencing is also extremely versatile as it can be finished by painting or staining it, or it can be left untreated to age to a natural color. The Unfinished wood provides a natural and rustic look and tends to blend in naturally with trees, shrubs and grass. Many people choose wood fencing as it is not only visually pleasing but has a distinct old-fashioned feel to it. The important advantage of being bio-degradable with a wooden fence, once you have decided that it is reached the end of its useful life, can be torn down and recycled or even used for the garden.

Most people choose wood fencing for its stylish and attractive appearance and if it is properly installed and maintained, wood fencing can last for many years and add value to any property. The Wood fencing is generally inexpensive, comes in a wide variety of styles, sizes and quality and is easy to find just about anywhere.

Picket Fence:
For homeowners seeking a traditional style for their property, a picket fence may be the ideal option. Picket fences are known for their simplicity and easy installation. The design calls for wooden pickets placed parallel to one another along a fence rail. This type of fence usually works best with cottage-style homes or properties that contain English-style gardens. The Picket fence styles includes the French-Gothic-spaced picket, dog-ear-spaced picket and also the pointed-top-spaced picket.

Security Fence:
Homeowners concerned with the safety and privacy of their property should consider a wood security fence. These fences are generally tall, with many measuring over six feet. Some neighborhoods have height restrictions, however, so homeowners should check zoning ordinances to determine how tall their security fence may be. The panels in a wood security fence are all close together, so the interior of the yard or property is not visible from the outside. The wood panels should be joined using steel bolts in order to ensure that the fence is sturdy.

Latticework Fence:
The Latticework wood fences utilize decorative latticework to provide homeowners with privacy, but still allow sunlight and breezes to pass through their yard. These fences are built by attaching wooden latticework panels, which feature diamond-shaped openings, to fence posts. Homeowners may choose to place the openings vertically or horizontally, so the openings have a square shape instead. The openings in a latticework fence also allow homeowners to train vines to grow over the fence for additional privacy.

Split-Rail Fence:
A split-rail wood fence is a good option for ranch or country-style homes. Most split-rail fences are made with Western red cedar wood, which is weather- and insect-resistant and creates a rustic look for any property. This kind of fence is easy to construct, made by cutting cedar logs into rails, which are then attached horizontally between posts. The different styles of split-rail fences vary based on the number of rails and whether a cross brace is used. Most split-rail fences feature three rails, while some feature only two, and others as many as five.

Thus Wood fencing may be a good choice for its aesthetics but on a more practical level, wood fences best serve two principal functions: privacy and durability.

Getting To know Your Fire Extinguisher

In every fire safety plan, there is always one equipment that is always required but is often taken for granted and that is the fire extinguisher. A fire extinguisher is designed to control or to put out a starting fire or a small fire. Most raging fire emergencies start out in a small fire that is not controlled or dealt with immediately. That is why having a fire extinguisher within reach can go a long way in preventing a huge fire emergency from happening.

But despite the usefulness of the fire extinguisher, many people still take this little equipment for granted. Most of them think that it’s just a silly old fire prevention display that they put in the corner of the house thinking that they will never use it or that if ever they do need to use it, any kind of fire extinguisher would work the same way on any kind of fire. But contrary to what many people think, there are different kinds of fire extinguisher that works on different types of fire.

Here are the most common kinds of fire extinguishers:

1. Water Extinguishers – these are pressurized extinguishers that are filled with water. The fire brigade says that it is best to use this for fighting fire that contains combustible materials like paper, wood and cardboard. This is not advisable for fires caused by faulty electrical wirings or grease fires because it will only cause the blaze to spread and make the fire grow bigger.

2. Dry Chemical Extinguishers – these are the most commonly sold extinguisher in the market. It is filled with powder or foam and it is pressurized with some nitrogen which is actually a great advantage in a fire extinguisher because it leaves non-flammable substance on the fire burning material which reduces the probability of re-ignition of fire. These are great for taking out almost any kind of fire.

3. Carbon Dioxide Extinguishers – these extinguishers have carbon dioxide and non-flammable gas in it and it is highly pressurized. This type of extinguisher has the highest amount of pressure that it is common to see bits of dry ice shooting out of its nozzle. The fire brigade advises the people to only use this on fire that is caused by electrical wirings and combustible liquid like or grease. This would not work effectively on fires from combustible materials because it does not have enough oxygen to completely put out the fire which may cause it to re-ignite.

When people buy their fire extinguishers, most of them do not really give enough thought on choosing which fire extinguisher to purchase. And though some may think that it does not really matter, the fire brigade would say otherwise. That is why it is important to know your fire extinguisher because you never know when you will need it. So if you are planning to improve your fire safety at home and you decide to buy a fire extinguisher, why not take some time to know these fire extinguishers to guide you on which kind of extinguisher to buy.

LED light bar units to lighting up first emergency vehicles.

Emergency vehicles are all different and provide different services, but one thing they all need is LED light bar units to help warn and inform other drivers and pedestrians.

The range of emergency or first response vehicles is large, police, ambulance, rescue, fire and coastguard vehicles all fall into the emergency first response vehicle list. The range of equipment needed by first responders is vast and diverse but they all have one lot of kit and that is lighting. There is no such thing as a standard LED light bar just as there is no such thing as a standard emergency vehicle. Each emergency service has different requirements from their vehicle lighting with police probably needing the most versatility from their LED light bar units. Emergency vehicle lighting is a big market but that means that there is a wealth of choice out there.

The kind of lighting a tow truck will need will be vastly different to what a fire truck needs, and an ambulance will need a completely different set of lights to a police cruiser. As first response vehicles belong to different emergency services and they all carry different types of equipment depending on their line of duty. All First response vehicles will carry the items they need to carry out their duties and the LED light bar units they have fitted will also be job specific. Obviously a volunteer firefighter or a doctor on call will need different types of lighting on their vehicle to say an ambulance.

Sometimes you can find items that cross over on emergency vehicles such as emergency life saving equipment like general medical supplies for treating common injuries/accidents and things like defibrillators. A police vehicle would have little use for breathing apparatus or pumping equipment, and neither would a fire truck have any real need for license plate identifying software or a gun rack. Whilst there is a small area of cross over most emergency service vehicles are equipped with very specific kit. Lighting is an area of crossover and there is nothing to stop an ambulance having the same LED light bar unit as a fire truck or a police cruiser.

The lighting on emergency vehicles is there for several reasons, the main one being to increase visibility. A highly visible vehicle is far less likely to be involved in a collision and therefore it keeps the personnel safe. The LED light bar unit helps inform the public of a vehicles presence whether it is approaching us from behind or is stationary. The lighting is very effective at letting us know there is a problem and we need to move over and slow down. Of course police vehicles need other lighting such as take down lights and possibly traffic advisor lights.

The use of lights and siren together does allow emergency vehicles of right of way on our roads, and we need to adhere to any move over law our state has to assist emergency vehicles. Naturally because of the time critical nature of emergencies the personnel need to get to their destination quickly but safely, and LED light bar units can help them do that. Sirens, PA systems, lights and vibration or rumbler sirens are used to get our attention on the highways so they all play an important part in saving lives.

How a Hidden Camera Can Increase Security in the Home

The covert nature of a camera hidden in foliage, on a book shelf, in a wrist watch or in anything that disguises the device completely, seems a little too far fetch to be used in a simple domestic location. The very utterance of the words Hidden Camera brings to mind images of Cold War old boys and their gadgets, and backrooms with a solitary video technician observing the pictures coming from the other side of the wall. However, this is not necessarily the case.

It is not difficult to find boxes emblazoned with the words “Secret Agent Spy Cameras” in toy shops, with young boys obviously excited to act out an imaginative part in that secretive world. However, the availability of real and quite sophisticated cameras for everyday use in homes, and of course retail areas, is in no way secret. In fact, the spy clock on the mantelpiece is not as obscure a thing as once thought.

There are many reasons why a home owner might think that a secret recording device is needed. Heirlooms of considerable value may be seen as too tempting for the house cleaner to ignore. In the time pressured modern world, where both spouses work to afford a comfortable lifestyle, it is not unusual to hire a cleaner. However, it can be difficult to be in the home when she arrives. For the sake of peace of mind alone, a surveillance camera may be desired.

If it seems a little unfair, it is worth noting that such steps are precautionary, with rarely any event happening to warrant actually using the footage. However, if the diamond necklace that grandmother bequeathed is to remain safe, security measures need to be taken, especially when household staff are new or not very well known.

It is also a reality of modern living that a nanny be hired to look after children. Since many of the nannies hired are strangers to the family, it is understandable that there would be initial concerns over their treatment of the children. Nannies are required to have background checks, but these are sometimes not performed in as thorough a manner as they should be.

The bottom line, of course, is that parents have the right to take whatever steps are necessary to ensure the well being of their children, making secret surveillance necessary.

Perhaps the most obvious reason is the desire to provide extra security for valuables in the off chance that the home security system is breached. Cameras can be installed in rooms where that antique original oil painting is hanging, or solid gold candle sticks stand, or even where the house safe is located, to record any intruder that may arrive to burgle the home. By having undetectable cameras cover entry and exit points, it is possible to record the culprit and identify him.

These are just a handful of reasons why secret cameras are used in a home, though the range of camera designs and disguises are just as numerous. For example, a simple digital clock can be placed in the bedroom of the child to observe the behaviour of the nanny when no one else is looking. While it will function perfectly as a clock, a tiny hole in the case houses a lens through which the images are captured.

However, a digital alarm spy clock may look out of place in a luxurious living room, where the set of golden candlesticks is located. A smoke detector on the ceiling would look less conspicuous, so there is an imitation model available. While it seems that the threat of fire is being addressed, in fact, a tiny camera is recording from inside the casing. Most of the cameras also have sound capabilities, as well as motion detectors to reduce footage time to only when there is movement.

Of course, it is always preferable that nothing happens at all, but should there be a situation then catching those guilty in the act can lead to them being arrested and stolen items being recovered. Secret agent style spy cameras may be reserved for the toy shop shelves, with the more modest sounding hidden camera a more suitable title. Regardless of the name, the outcome is the same, with security enhanced for the home, its occupants and their possessions.
